The family and friends of Glenda Hooper-Macut are privileged to present the 5th annual 2 mile walk/5K run, in her memory. Glenda lost her courageous battle with Ovarian Cancer in 2005, after first being diagnosed in 1999. Not only was Glenda a loving, caring and giving person, she was a true fighter. She was the family matriarch to all whom miss her deeply and to some who never had a chance to know her.
Glenda's walk/run will provide awareness and education about this deadly disease. Ovarian Cancer is the fourth leading cause of cancer death in women. Ovarian Cancer is not an uncommon disease, as it affects 1 out of every 71 women. Ovarian Cancer is difficult to diagnose because the symptoms are subtle and very often misinterpreted by both women and physicians. Therefore, 75% of the women are diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer after the disease has reached an advanced stage (stage 3 or 4). Unfortunately, there is little awareness and education concerning this deadly disease. Through this walk/run, we will raise funds to advance research.
